Before beginning any cleaning procedures, Jason details a chart on every tooth in your pet's mouth. He makes extensive notes about the lips and gums as well. Jason prefers to communicated with you before he starts for your insight to your own pet, and to answer any questions you might have, as well as to address any special needs your dog or cat might have. You may choose to wait during these dental procedures on an "out-patient" basis or return later as your schedule permits. Perhaps you would like to have your pet bathed or have a medical checkup at the same time for your convenience.
Simply put, Jason sits down on the floor at your pet's level, embracing and soothing them. Jason has a "wonderful way about him" and even a very nervous animal will relax and allow him to gently massage and thoroughly clean their teeth. Years of nasty tartar and foul odor is cleaned away from your pet's mouth. Jason follows cleaning with a delightful polishing and the application of a healing gel.
In accordance with the legal, ethical, and medically correct protocol for the cleaning of your pet's teeth without the use of an anesthetic agent, Jason only performs his dental evaluations, cleaning, and polishing procedures under the supervision of a licensed California Veterinarian. Jason works in concert with Dr. Jeffrey Cohen, a Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist, to make the best decision for your pet's health. Your pet must be current on the annual vet exam to be eligible for non-anesthetic dental cleanings and polishings. Most pets (approx. 80%) are good candidates for non-anesthetic dental procedures, but sometimes during the exam phase, discoveries could be made that would dictate more serious dental disease that might require anesthesia, extractions of severely infected or fractured teeth, or even the referral to Veterinary Dental Specialist.
Jason would like to speak with you following the dental cleaning to review the findings and point out special issues about your pet's mouth and teeth. Additionally, supporting the home care of your pet's oral hygiene is an important component of the process. We know from years of research that a pet's dental condition directly impacts overall health, and when neglected can directly account for heart, liver, and kidney diseases. Proper dental care can extend your pet's life perhaps 3-5 years.
